On August 3 at 8pm, The Gallery at 480 Main Street in Malden will host a concert featuring the musical group Muscari. Muscari musicians Burcu Gulec – voice, Melissa Lund – oud and George Lernis – percussion will be joined by Mal Barsamian – clarinet and Panos Aivas – Kanoun for an evening of music from the Greek, Turkish, Arabic, and Armenian musical repertoire.

For a city as diverse as Malden, Muscari has an appropriate purpose for performing, to build community and bring down cultural and other walls that divide. This delivery of music is inspired by a century-old model of the Café Aman circles. Over a century ago, such musical gatherings took place throughout the Ottoman Empire to connect the people from different cultures.

For an entry fee of $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors, this evening is open to the public. Tickets are available online at or at the door.
