“My silk collages start with white fabric full of possibilities. I use shibori dye method. This resist technique creates fabrics with an organic geometry and interesting painterly surprise effects. Building up composition for the piece is a fun part of the process and most challenging. Shapes are emphasized with layered silks and machine stitching. The use of sheer silk organza adds an extra transparent dimension to the artwork. My themes vary from abstract to more representative motifs. Images are often suggestive, just bringing up the essence of the shapes, leaving space for the imagination.”
